South Sudan – Transformation Groups
Without access to help, women in Zeneb’s village in South Sudan are vulnerable to famine, violence, illiteracy and extreme poverty. But Zeneb was praying for God’s love to change things. When we offered to train local women to facilitate self-help Transformation Groups, she enthusiastically signed up. Equipped with our training, she began teaching Bible studies, saving money, and keeping the books for her group. Her group was able to save about $100 in a few months, and she took out a small loan to open a restaurant and hired two other women to work there.
South Sudan is the newest country in the world, borne out of horrific violence. The women and girls we seek to empower have never known anything other than war and poverty.
Through Transformation Groups, we help women support each other to succeed in business. Groups of 12-20 women learn of God’s love, administer a savings and lending pool, and develop job skills. She Is Safe Transformation Groups help to create role models of industry and dignity, and their daughters have a better future in store.
